The Sisters of Mercy, Sisters of St. Joseph and Benedictine Sisters together have been providing two years supportive transitional housing to impoverished women and children since Erie DAWN's establishment in 1995. Erie DAWN serves women without regard to age, race, religion, sexual orientation and ethnicity. Erie DAWN's vision empowers women to gain and maintain their independence and self-sufficiency so that they can better their lives and become active members of the community. Mission Statement Rooted in the belief that all people have the right to live in a setting that safeguards human dignity, Erie DAWN in partnership with area landlords/realtors provides safe, affordable, independent, transitional housing for low-income women and children. Advocacy and support services are provided so that the women can become productive members of the community.
